I have been painting animals since the 1980s. The majority by commision and these involved pets, such as cats and dogs. As my interest extends to all animals  I have recently  undertaken paintings of wildlife, examples of which are in one of the  galleries.

My concern is to render a good likeness of the subject, and capture the unique aspect of the individual animal. Any close contact with animals soon makes you aware of how individual they can be. Sometimes it is their behaviour  and sometimes it is the way the sit or stand that expresses their particular character. I really enjoy finding those elements and expressing them through a painting or drawing.
